He has over 30 years of experience in commodities trading when he started as one of the pioneers in INTRACO limited. He founded his timber enterprise in the early 1990s and has grown it into a timber empire with a gross turnover of above $200 million USD at its peak.

Mr. Yong also sits on the committee of various business associations such as Singapore Hong Kong Business Association aiming to promote good business relationships and partnerships between Asian Countries.
